Job's understanding and trust in God (Lessons from Job - Final)

Psalms 119:130  “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”  The Word of God, as far as the context allows, must be taken literally. The failure to accept the word of God literally is the reason why many Christians have a feeble understanding of God and they miss out on the joy of being a Christian.  As a result, the account of Daniel in the lion’s den becomes a children’s story; the coming of the Lord is simply a placebo. Church attendance to them is a chore and unknowingly, they may have become agnostics.   Job's understanding and trust in God The book of Job was probably written much earlier than Genesis. Although Genesis covers events from the beginnings, the book of Job may have existed during the era when the events at the Tower of Babel took place. The mention of prehistoric creatures like unicorns (Job 39:9) and dinosaurs (Job 41:1, 19) are evidence of it being written much earlier. The extinction of these great creatures was

The Common Attacks of the Devil (Part 2B)

(Part B) The Common Attacks of the Devil Today, the devil's methods are still the same but disguised in various forms. Before our Lord returns to take us to His heavenly home, we are still in the midst of this spiritual conflict. We are exhorted to be vigilant and take on the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:11) 1 Corinthians 10:13     There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. The devil’s method against Christians has not changed since the time of Adam. The book of Job reveals the devil’s comprehensive strategy to tempt men and cause them to sin against God. The final destination of man’s transgression is not against another man— but against God. In Gen 39:9, when Joseph was tempted, he knew that if he committed adultery with the woman, he would first sin against God and then Port

Lessons from Job (Part 3)

Part 3 Section A (Job 1:13 - 19; 2: 6-8) The common attacks of the devil "Sin can be described as having missed the mark. Some illustrate this in the sport of archery when you missed the bullseye. The word “miss” can also be translated as sin." In the last blog on the Lessons from the Book of Job, we are given a glimpse of the spiritual conflict and Satan impugning the character of Job before God. Satan’s method has not changed and presently, Christians are the target of the Devil’s relentless diabolic objective. We can take comfort in the fact that Satan is defeated by the Lord (John 16:33). Nonetheless, we must be vigilant as Satan has some remaining time on earth and is also unrepentant. He has no qualms about stretching out his evil hand to tempt  Christians to sin until his time is over.   The question will invariably surface on why God still allows Satan to attack Christians after knowing he is malevolent. This answer hinges on the free will that God gave to m

10 MAY 2020 A glimpse of the heavenly conflict and the given powers of Satan There are some who desire to embrace the faith but they are afraid of the spiritual conflict with Satan. Accordingly, such people would take a neutral position (do not take sides with God or Satan). Unfortunately, there is no neutral position. If you are not on God’s side, the Word of God declares as follows:   John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. The heavenly conflict The book of Job gave us a glimpse of the heavenly conflict. In this revelation set out in Job 1:6-12 and Job 2:1-6, we were given a record of two conversations between God and Satan. One may wonder in the first place why God would want to speak to Satan. Examining the two passages, we were informed of the presence of the ‘sons of God’ (v.6) and these conversations were for the ears of the sons of God.

Lessons from Job (Part 1)

3 May 2020 Lessons from Job (Part 1) "Although the Lord mentioned that these 3 men (Noah, Daniel and Job) were righteous, it is important to note that they were not sinless, but  men who were striving to be righteous in the sight of God . It would be doctrinally wrong to think that these 3 men saved themselves through their righteous characters." The name Job means ‘The Persecuted’ . Job is described in God’s words as follows: Job 1:1  There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.  Job 1:2   And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.  Job 1:3   His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. I will be covering the study of this book and would like to share the followi
